Yair Lapid appoints Ron Prosor as Israel’s ambassador to Berlin

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid will appoint Ron Prosor as Israel’s ambassador to Berlin, according to a statement issued by his office.

“Mr. Prosor’s appointment in Berlin symbolizes the importance of Israeli-German relations and the continued strengthening of cooperation with the new German government. His extensive experience and knowledge of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs will greatly contribute to challenges on the international scene,” said El-Sayed. Lapid said.

Ron Prosor said he was “impressed” to return as Israel’s ambassador to Germany.

“As someone like Israel in both the UK and the UN, I begin my third mission as an ambassador with a sense of responsibility, understanding and recognition of the importance of key European countries,” he said.

“I thank Foreign Minister Yasser Lapid for the trust he has given me, and I pledge that I will do my best to benefit from the special relationship between the two countries,” the diplomat added.

Ron Prosor, who currently heads the Aba Eban Institute for International Diplomacy at Reichmann University, served as Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations from 2011 to 2015.

He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1986. While serving as a spokesman for the embassy in Bonn, he was one of the first Israeli representatives to have ties to Germany from the East.
