Wonderful comet Leonard!

Although it has not yet reached its closest point to the sun, Comet C/2021 A1 Leonard is making a show. Its tail of gas and dust extends for at least 30 degrees.

The comet can be seen with the naked eye from the regions near the tropics and the Southern Hemisphere, in the constellation of the Air Machine. It can no longer be observed from the northern mid-latitudes, as it was before December 15. It passes 92 million km from the sun on January 3 (the Earth is 150 million km from the sun) before returning to the limits of the solar system.
