WhatsApp will not work soon on iPhones running iOS 9. According to the latest beta version uploaded, the instant messaging app is on the verge of abandoning support for this old interface. It is not a surprise. Every year, WhatsApp stops working on the list of old devices.
WABetainfo, a messaging website, found out by searching the beta code for WhatsApp on iOS IOS 9 is no longer supported. According to specialist media, the stable release should quickly follow in the footsteps of the beta version, leaving all iPhones stuck in iOS 9 aside.
to use The WhatsApp On iPhone, you will need at least the iOS 10 update, which is a version of the interface published at the end of 2016. If you already have WhatsApp installed on your phone, you can continue using it as before. However, some features may not function properly over time.

List of iPhones, iPads and iPods that will soon be banned from WhatsApp
Concretely, abandoning the iOS 9 update will leave many Apple devices aside. These devices were unable to install iOS 10 when it arrived in the fall of 2016. It is thus out of date in WhatsApp’s eyes:
- IPhone 4s
- iPad 2 and 3
- iPad mini 1
- iPod touch 5G
If you are still using an iPhone 5 / 5c / 5s, iPhone 6 (Plus), or iPhone 6s (Plus) running iOS 9, we recommend you to quickly install the latest update. Note that WhatsApp has not yet updated the FAQ for compatible devices Messages only specify: “For the best experience, we recommend the latest iOS version available for your phone. Please visit Apple’s support site for more information on updating your iPhone software.”.
This change may not happen Effective only in early 2022. In fact, WhatsApp used to drop support for old smartphones every January 1. This year, WhatsApp stopped working optimally on iPhones running an earlier version of iOS 9 and smartphones stuck on Android 4.0.2 (or earlier).
