Peace Proscovia returns to Vitality Netball Superleague for 2022

Surrey Storm has hired one of the world’s best goal pitchers as Peace Proscovia returns to the Vitality Netball Superleague for the 2022 season.

The Ugandan captain’s arrival in Storm represents a true declaration of intent on the part of Mikki Austin’s team.

Proscovia’s time with Loughborough Lightning between 2015 and 2019 made her one of the most loved and loved players in the Vitality Netball Superleague.

While studying and playing netball at Loughborough Lightning, she helped them advance to two major finals and claim victory in the British Fast5 All-Stars Championship. Individual awards also followed, with Proscovia taking the lead.

After his stay in England, Proscovia joined Suncorp Super Netball and Sunshine Coast Lightning. There she continued to advance as a player and played a pivotal role in the shooting circle.

During the 2021 Suncorp Super Netball season, Proscovia operated with an accuracy rate of 90%.

In total, the 31-year-old has scored 670 goals in 42 games for the Super Netball franchise, including a career high of 53 against West Coast Fever in the 2019 season.

“Peace has grown so much since he joined our club,” Sunshine Coast Lightning coach Kylie Byrne said when it was announced Proscovia’s departure.

“It was a pleasure to see her develop and she really became such a strong target in our attack line.

“Anyone who has experienced peace knows the profound impact she has on those around her and she has definitely felt it during her time at Lightning.”

Internationally, Proskovia has been in charge of the Ugandan side since 2013 and has played on some of the biggest stages including the 2015 and 2019 Netball World Cup and the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Proscovia, one of seven children from one of the poorest families in a small town in northern Uganda, speaks openly about her childhood because she wants to inspire others.

In her own words, Proskovia decided to “fight for her destiny” when she was a little girl. She defied her father’s initial wrath to follow his passion for netball, put herself in her studies and created opportunities for herself.

She said, “Talent has done amazing things for people,” and shared her experience with her Air Sports in 2018.

“He got people out of nowhere to somewhere and the working example is me. I studied through netball. I moved to countries I wouldn’t have visited, even just the capital of Uganda.

“No one knows who they are in the background. My journey has never defined who I am, if it were my identification, I would not be anyone.”
