Canadian tennis player Vasek Pospisil reached the final in Mouilleron-Le-Captif, France, a few days ago, and scored another positive result at the Challenger Championships in Ismaning, Germany, defeating Germany’s Philip Florig in two sets 6-3 6-2 on Wednesday.
Defeated in his quest for the title in the previous tournament, this setback was quickly forgotten by the Maple Leaf actor, the one who showed himself dominant by eliminating the audience favorite in less than an hour.
The world’s 122nd and third-ranked racketeer was not worried, as he did not provide any break points to his opponent and won in 90% of the exchanges after putting his first ball into play, as Posipisil managed 15 aces.
He happily attacked the 874th player in the world, giving himself six points for a total break and half conversion.
In the next round, Pospisil will face Czech Jonas Forgetek, number 238 in the world.
Alexis Gallarno in the quarter-finals
At another Challenger tournament, in Fairfield, USA, Quebec Alexis Gallarneau reached the quarter-finals with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over American Evan Chu.
The ATP’s No. 227 racket was particularly dominant on the serve return, winning half of the 42nd Rally when his opponent put his first ball between the two lines. The winner also maintains an efficiency ratio of 60% in the event of his opponent’s second ball. Such a performance allowed Gallarno to cash in on 10 break points and take advantage of the game.
With the balls in hand, Gallarno played 67% of his first balls, winning 21 of his next 30 rallies. He also saved each of his opponent’s two break points.
In the next round, Gallarno will face American Sam Reeves, the 650th racket in the world.
