New York | The New York state attorney general announced on Tuesday that the Trump Organization, the group owned by the family of former US President Donald Trump, is undergoing a criminal investigation.

“We have informed the Trump Organization that our investigation into this organization is no longer civilian in nature,” said Fabian Levy, spokesperson for New York State Attorney General Letitia James.
“We are now actively investigating the Trump Organization into criminal matters, along with the attorney general in Manhattan,” she added.
The Trump Organization is made up of hundreds of companies associated with Donald Trump or his relatives, including hotels, real estate companies and golf courses.
Manhattan Attorney General Cyrus Vance, a Democrat, in 2018 launched an investigation focusing initially on payments made, prior to the 2016 presidential election, to two alleged mistresses of the Republican billionaire, and has now expanded to include allegations of tax evasion and tax evasion. This investigation is conducted in secret before a grand jury. Attorney Vance obtained tax returns from Donald Trump for the past eight years and from the Trump Organization in February after a long legal battle.
Donald Trump, who left the White House in January, denied any wrongdoing, describing the investigation as “a continuation of the largest political pursuit in the history of our country.”
