During a study day organized by Crediff in Tunis on the topic “Women in the Public Space… Multifaceted Approaches”, Belkahia explained that these barriers raised certain concerns about the presence of women in decision-making positions, public spaces and senior positions. .

On the other hand, she indicated that the problem of women’s relationship with public space with its multiple dimensions imposed itself in scientific discourse, especially in the humanities, hence the organization of this study day to discuss this issue among Tunisians. And foreign researchers in the fields of history, urban studies, sociology and law and from the perspective of the intersection of historical visions between the two shores of the Mediterranean.

This study day aims to give an overview of the presence of women in the public space throughout history, especially with regard to Tunisian women who had a strong participation in this field, as evidenced by historical documents.

On the agenda for this day are several questions relating, in particular, to the following topics: “Intersectional approaches to the presence of women in the city”, “Women and public spaces in Roman cities in Africa”, “Women in the Roman city” …
