A super-strong hurricane struck the US territory of Guam in the western Pacific Ocean. With sustained winds of 225 km/h, Storm Mawar caused severe damage and power outages. Currently, the category 4 hurricane is continuing westward at a speed of 13 km/h.

Having made landfall, the hurricane has already intensified. Its winds again reach 240 km / h. According to forecasters, the hurricane could become a Category 5 storm again in the next few days. Indeed, to the west-northwest, the northern regions of the Philippines and Taiwan are threatened. Mawar is expected to make landfall again early next week.
20 years stronger
Mawar is the strongest typhoon to hit this region since Pongsuna in 2002. Three elements were unleashed: strong winds, heavy rain and storm surge. The authorities forced the evacuation of many citizens who lived near the coastal areas.
