Francis Suarez, 45, joins a long list of contenders for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
A new candidate in the race for the White House. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez on Wednesday filed his official candidacy for the 2024 presidential election, according to documents released by the Federal Election Commission, joining dozens of other Republican candidates eager to block Donald Trump’s path.
Forty is due to formalize his candidacy this Thursday during a “big speech” promised to his supporters.
Trump is the favorite
He joins an already crowded field of Republican candidates, all of whom currently trail the twice-impeached former president in the polls.
Francis Suarez is the third candidate to announce his candidacy since leaving the White House at a luxury home in Mar-a-Lago, following his governor Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump.
Most of these candidates will be opposed during the first debate on August 23. The winner of these primaries will face the Democratic nominee in November 2024, most likely President Joe Biden.
