A Berthier footballer has received financial support from the Fondation de l’Athlète d’Excellence du Québec (FAEQ). Two Chertsey weightlifters shone on the international stage as 14-year-old Brian Ibanez won bronze at the Pan American Under-17 Championships online, which is jointly hosted by the International Weightlifting Federation and the Colombian Federation. Brian trains 14 hours a week with his 10-year-old sister, Emily Ibanez, with the Warriors Weightlifting Club. The latter is also the US Champion in the U-13 category by snatching 47kg and jerking 61kg. This young player represented Canada with great pride despite her young age. Brian and Emily are part of a family of athletes whose mother was the world weightlifting champion in Barcelona in 2018 and in Montreal in 2019.
