Sandbox & Co.Fingerprint, a strategic operator of millennial learning and entertainment companies in London, UK, has acquired Fingerprint, a digital content provider for children and families based in San Francisco, California.
The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
With this agreement, Sandbox Kids was formed to provide on-demand digital, multimedia and cross-platform subscription services to children and families around the world.
Industry veteran Nancy McIntyre will act as CEO and lead the new Sandbox Kids division, which will include existing Sandbox properties Hopster and Curious World alongside Fingerprint’s Kidomi. Nancy MacIntyre will lead the company’s mission to expand content that engages children while helping partners create, operate, and market subscription services to reach families around the world.
Sandbox Kids combines Fingerprint content and subscription experience with Sandbox’s global portfolio of brands and accelerates the growth of its customer base that already reaches over 55 million households per month.
Sandbox Kids will provide digital content suitable for children around the world who have access to mobile devices. The Sandbox Kids product range grows with one child and includes:
- Hopster from 1 to 4 years old,
- The strange world for children ages 4 to 8
- Kidomi for ages 3 to 12.
In addition, the company will continue to produce original content through Hopster Studios. Collectively, these products offer more than 8,000 videos, games, interactive books, songs, podcasts and audio stories available worldwide in more than 100 countries and 23 languages, with over 7 million app downloads and over 500,000 families playing every month.
Sandbox Kids products can be translated for any market and optimized for any device or platform. The company has content partnerships with more than 200 content creators in more than 60 countries and business partnerships with Amazon, Comcast, T-Mobile, Verizon, TCL, Roku, Mondia Media, Vodafone, and more.
