NVIDIA GeForce MX550 linked to Intel Core i7-1260P processor at Geekbench

GA107 GPU with 2048 CUDA cores and 2 GB of GDDR6?

NVIDIA launched a file GeForce MX450 in August 2020. Its successor, the MX550, was spotted on Geekbench. It hangs in a Lenovo laptop and is powered by an Intel Core i7-1260P processor.

The entry level reference inherits the Ampere GA107 GPU. It has 2GB of GDDR6, like the MX450. On the other hand, you benefit from 16 SM instead of 14; And since the Ampere architecture offers twice as many FP32 cores per SM as Turing, the MX550 has 2,048 CUDA cores compared to 896 of its predecessor. However, that number of cores more than double does not result in a doubled performance either: Result OpenCL Rather it shows a gain of about 15%. Indeed, the system based on the MX550 scores 39,124 points, which is, based on the 450 MX, 33,925 points.

What is the memory speed?

The MX550 specifications are put into perspective with those of the different versions of the MX450 in the table below. NVIDIA could formalize this reference during CES 2022.

GeForce MX GPU GPU Frequency (MHz) koda hearts memory Memory speed
MX550? N19S-G5 (?) (GA107) ~ 1500 2048 2 go G6 (?) b to select
MX450 25W G6 N18S-G5 (TU117) 1395-1575 896 2 Go G6 64b 10 Gbit/s
MX450 25W G5 N18S-G5 (TU117) 1395-1575 896 2 Go G5 64b 5-8 Gbit/s
MX450 15W N18S-LP (TU117) 720-930 896 2 Go G6 64b 10 Gbit/s

A few words about the Intel Core i7-1260P processor to finish. This slide is definitely part of the series Alder Lake – B. It has 12 cores / 16 threads, which would likely translate to a 4 + 8 configuration. Geekbench detects it with a base frequency of 2.5 GHz and a Boost frequency of 4.6 GHz.
