Clement Bonn, Minister of State to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs responsible for European affairs, will visit The Hague and Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on May 21-22.
In The Hague, Clement Bonn will meet with Dutch Foreign Minister Steve Blok. They will discuss the health situation and the European coordination necessary to confront the epidemic with regard to conditions for handling and producing vaccines in the Union.
As part of the Asylum, Immigration and Dublin Reform Charter, they will discuss the issue of protecting the Union’s external borders, which is essential to sustain freedom of movement within the Schengen area and the possibility of the continuation of the common European asylum system.
Mm. Bonn and Block will address the challenges of European energy sovereignty, Franco-Dutch cooperation in combating climate change and green taxonomy, with the goal of a “carbon-free” economy by 2030 and 2050.
Clement Bonn will also present the preparation for the French presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2022 and mention our desire to revive and re-launch Europe, especially in the framework of the Conference on the Future of Europe. Looking at the upcoming European Council, it will stress the importance of the full implementation of the agreements concluded between the European Union and the United Kingdom.
