The new Swedish series Snabba Cash will return for a second season on Netflix which is expected to arrive in 2022. Filming is expected to begin later this year.
The thriller series debuted on Netflix on April 7, 2021 worldwide and ends where the original Swedish film trilogy left off, albeit 10 years in the future. The series was commissioned in June 2019 and the project has been piloted by SF Studios.
The series has done well in its home country, according to FlixPatrol, which reports that the series has been in the top ten there for 61 days now. It has always worked well in other Nordic countries, particularly in Norway (55 days), Finland (28 days) and Denmark (23 days). It performed well in other European countries as well, but failed to reach the top ten in the US, UK, Canada or Australia.
Thanks to Expressen, we’ve learned that Snabba Cash will return for a second season in 2022.
Oscar Söderlund told Expressen who said (freely translated): “Working with season one was so much fun with the teamwork and being able to get back into our characters, the team and the actors working on the project. It’s a great feeling. I’m very proud of the first season but now we’re going to do even better.”
2022 is also the year that another Swedish series, Love & Anarchy, is expected to return for its second season.
Other upcoming TV projects on Netflix include Anxious People, Young Royals (scheduled for release July 1), Clark, The Unlikely Murderer, and Untold.
The only other Swedish original series from Netflix, Quicksand, has yet to be renewed.
