Montreal: other domestic matches in the United States

CF Montreal announced Monday that it will play its home matches scheduled for July 3 and 7 in New Jersey and Orlando, respectively. The team says it is still working to find a solution that would allow return to Canada.

For example, coach Wilfried Nancy’s side will host Inter Miami at the Red Bull Arena, home of the New York Red Bulls, on the first Saturday of next month. This is where the Montreal team played most of their home matches during the 2020 campaign after the tournament resumed at the Walt Disney Complex near Orlando.

Also, the club will reconnect with North Florida, where they face New York City FC at Orlando City four days after their stint at Harrison.

Since the start of the season, the team has been based at DRV PNK Stadium and Inter Miami CF Training Center in Fort Lauderdale, but the stadium will not be available for both games due to the preliminary round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The organization added that the location of these matches is subject to change if the team is able to return to Montreal to train there and play its matches at Saputo Stadium. It is working with Major League Soccer and the other two Canadian clubs in the ring, Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps, to try to get home.

After a 10-day hiatus, the team resumed daily training in Fort Lauderdale on June 9 in preparation for their next game against DC United on Wednesday. Two days later, the Montreal team will travel to Tennessee to face Nashville on Saturday.
