Miss Universe 2022: All about Clemence Bottineau, the French beauty contest candidate

Elected Miss Guadeloupe on August 3, 2020, before winning the title of Miss France on December 14, 2020, Clemence Bottineau will represent France during the 70th Miss Universe pageant on Sunday December 12 in Israel.

Originally from Le Gosier, Clémence Botino is 24 years old and 1.74 meters tall. The young woman obtained her scientific baccalaureate with distinction and continued her studies in Miami, USA, where she spent a year.

At the time of her coronation as Miss France in 2020, Clemence Bottineau was a master’s student in Art History at the Sorbonne and aspired to become a heritage curator. The young woman also confided that she had deliberately waited before standing for the election of Mademoiselle Guadeloupe because, above all, she wanted to establish herself.

A brilliant fashion designer at heart, Clemence Botino followed a major in the history of Caribbean fashion.

She believes that “there are a lot of very talented creators in the Caribbean in general, who are not highlighted enough and who, nevertheless, impart values and knowledge”. Clemence Bottineau also plays piano and salsa in her spare time.

nightmare era

Barely a few months after receiving the sash of Miss France, her activities were blatantly halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the implementation of the first containment in the spring. For two months, his planned trips to France and abroad were canceled.

Clemence Bottineau also, in this context, was not able to go to meet her fans, nor to participate in certain events to which Pests are traditionally invited, such as the Cannes Film Festival, while she dreamed of climbing the steps of the palace.

As if the epidemic wasn’t enough, the young woman suffered a tragedy. Last July, a fatal fire broke out in the building where his official residence is located, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. Fortunately, she was evacuated in time by the fire department and was unharmed, but she lost many of her personal belongings.

His program was again thwarted with a second confinement, which was released at the end of October. Then Sylvie Tellier, director of the Miss France commission, pointed out that the traditional journey of preparation for regional failures would not eventually take place in Guadeloupe but in Ile-de-France, unfortunately on Clemence, who was happy to discover his home island for new candidates.

The year 2020 left him with a “bitter taste,” she admitted in an interview published in December in the Parisian newspaper. “I was hoping the end of my Miss year would be different. There was no audience for the elections, no travel either. Miss Universe, this is kind of my last cycle and I’m going to do the best I can!”, she confirms.

Second chance

The Miss Universe 2020 election could not be held – due to the pandemic – the organizers decided to schedule two competitions in 2021.

Since the 70th edition would have forced Miss France 2021, Amandine Petit, to go to Israel at the same moment as the election of Miss France 2022 where her presence is required so that she can pass on her crown to the new winner, namely Miss France. A few months ago they agreed to exchange their place. So Amandine Petit will participate in the 69th edition, on May 16, while Clemence Botino will participate in the December 12 edition.

And the least we can say is that the start of this new adventure did not begin under better auspices, as Clemens tested positive for Covid-19 upon her arrival in Israel where, at the end of November 2021, the eighty contenders had an appointment. To start preparing for the event.

Once off the plane, the young woman was placed in solitary confinement in a hotel where for several days she feared having to cancel her engagement. But Miss France 2020 announced on Tuesday, December 6, that she was healed and engaged. “I’m going out tomorrow!” I can’t believe it, I didn’t sleep well, I’m so excited! We were able to do these 10 days of quarantine together! She cheered on her Instagram account.

So the young woman was able to resume training with the other candidates. In order not to lag behind her competitors, she says that she “learned choreography in her room.” “The first week (the competitors) all did a few days of quarantine, and then they toured the country. The training didn’t really start until Sunday. She also explained to the Parisians.

Gym sessions, English lessons… Clemence Botino has already been training for six months to be elected Miss Universe. “I want to prove that I’m not just a cute ‘Miss France’. I want to launch something more attractive, less for a little girl and more women, because I feel stronger, entrusted Clemence Bottineau. (…) I’ve been obsessed with this setup because it’s my last chance In my life as a beauty queen! She added.

Despite the pressure, the young woman intends to seize every moment. “I’ll have fun, I have nothing to lose,” I comforted her, too. I like to play with the scarf. When I’m on stage, I’ll do my best! And I can’t wait to put on the regional uniform, which I’ll be highlighting my crossbreed. “

Clemens plans to follow in the footsteps of Iris Mittenaere, who crowned 2017, on December 12. The latter will be there as well, but on the jury this time, as Le Parisien noted, she will be alongside “top models Adriana Lima (US), Marian Rivera (Philippines), Laurie Harvey (US), Urvashi Rautella (India). and actress Adamari Lopez (Puerto Rico). A very charming staff that Clémence will have to try to collect the votes in.
