Canada can make it easier for the quarter-finals by defeating the United States in this meeting, which is scheduled for Friday evening at 11:10 pm (Quebec time).
Having enjoyed the win over Germany as the curtain raised, Canada became part of Group One, which China completes. There is no doubt that Claude Julien’s team is hoping to conclude the preliminary round with a perfect record in order to go straight to the quarter-finals against a less powerful opponent.
According to the established formula, four formations will qualify directly for the quarter, that is, the winners from each of the three groups, and then the “second best”.
Shawn Farrell to watch
Facing the Americans, Canada should be particularly wary of youngster Sean Farrell, the 20-year-old who was recruited by the Montreal Canadiens in 2020. In the 8-0 win over the Chinese team, Farrell led his team, Thursday, with three goals and an assist two.
After the match against the United States, Canada will face China on Sunday.
