US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met his Emirati counterpart on Tuesday, with whom he discussed a variety of topics.
The US State Department said in a statement that Blinken and Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan met on the sidelines of the twenty-sixth session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change – Conference of the Parties (COP26), which is being held in Glasgow, Scotland. “The United States is keen to ensure the appropriate balance of energy markets and calls on major producers, such as the United Arab Emirates, to increase their production even more so that energy markets and more generally regain their balance after the crisis caused by the Covid-19 epidemic.”

“Secretary Blinken also affirmed the strong support of the United States for the aspirations of the Sudanese people for democracy and stressed the need for the immediate re-establishment of a civilian-led transitional government in Sudan,” the statement added.
