In 2022, Lance Stroll has to deal with a rebellious car in Miami, but still finishes 10th in the Grand Prix. We are entitled to wonder what Quebec can now achieve in Florida with a high-performance single seater.
The Aston Martin driver has had good results at the start of the campaign, including a seventh-place finish last weekend in Azerbaijan. A few days later, the great Formula 1 circus takes place in the United States for a second event in as many weeks.
For his team’s website, Stroll reflected his experience last year in Miami. After a 10th-place finish in qualifying, he was relegated to the rear with fuel temperature problems.
I have mixed feelings compared to last year. On Wednesday, I had to start from the pits because of a problem before the race, he said, but I was able to fight to get back in the pack again and finish 10th, which was a very good result. The track itself is fast, but tough: like a street circuit should be.
Stroll really likes these technical tracks with lots of turns. Only the second Grand Prix will be in Miami, but the first was a real box office success. On the track, you have to keep your eyes wide open.
“You must be willing to take risks, but you can be punished if you cross the sea. [de la piste]. That’s what I love, though! As always, we’ll push through the weekend to make sure we come out of this doubleheader knowing we’ve done our best to score points,” Stroll said.
At 27 points, Montrealer is eighth in the drivers’ standings. In terms of manufacturers, Aston Martin is in second place.
