La Biolle: The League Against Cancer’s Tobacco-Free Zone opened

Tobacco Free Zone of the Association for the Control of Cancer installed in The town of Beol (Savoie), In front of the primary school, Monday 12 September 2022. The municipal council has unanimously agreed to put up posters on this tobacco-free space. The municipality of La Biolle also reminded it of the ban on smoking in stadiums by putting up a sign in front of the Couvette area.

75,000 tobacco-related deaths each year

La Biolle wants to get involved in the fight against smoking, the first avoidable cancer risk factor. In France, more than 5,000 tobacco-free places have already opened since 2012. In Savoy, the health crisis has delayed the labeling of many places, but the ministry now has 43 tobacco-free places.

Banning smoking in public places is intended to help ensure that smoking is not considered normal in our society. More than 200,000 young people start smoking in France each year. 75,000 tobacco-related deaths each year, or more than 200 people per day.
