The Espace écureuil Foundation, in Toulouse, will reopen on May 19 with the “Cher Journal” exhibition, made up of work by students from the region, from kindergartens to institutions of higher education. 1,200 young people took part in the operation in recent months.

The Espace Ecureuil Foundation, Place du Capitole, in Toulouse, will reopen on 19 May with the 29th edition of the “Cher journal” educational project. An opportunity for students of the Academy of Toulouse to display their visual artworks in a prestigious location, thanks to the support of Caisse d’Epargne Midi-Pyrénées. 1,200 students from 38 institutions in the region participated this year in the event held with the Toulouse Academy. Between November and March, 28 middle and high schools, 7 elementary schools and 3 institutions of higher education managed to visit Patricia Compacal’s “I Am the Dog” exhibition.
In order to facilitate the realization of this educational project, four cases have been circulated in institutions, half of which are outside Toulouse. In these random travel times, they allowed classes to fit the themes of the Patricia Compacal Gallery, through the artist’s loaned works, photographic prints, and a selection of books. Holy work in these times of frequent estrangement and confinement!
In addition, the Espace Ecureuil Foundation has produced and published short Internet films showing the exhibition.
“In addition to the idea of the intimate and central theme of Patricia Compacal’s work, pupils and students worked on many topics, from autobiography to imperfection, including dependence, body, skin, identity, memory, transformation or inner landscapes,” the organizers specified.
