Getlink reports 13% decline in revenue in the third quarter, company news

PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones) – The Getlink Channel Tunnel Manager, formerly known as the Eurotunnel Group, announced Thursday that keeping travel restrictions in place this summer in the UK has further reduced its third-trimester turnover.

For the July-September period, group sales were €223.1 million, down 13% at constant exchange rates compared to the third quarter of 2020.

Sales of Eurotunnel shuttle buses – trucks and cars – fell 20% to 148.7 million euros. Gitlink said the UK government’s announcement to ease health restrictions in mid-August led to a 6% rebound in car traffic in September.

Similarly, a gradual rise in Eurostar traffic supported network rail revenue, which rose 5% in the third quarter over a year ago, to €39.2 million.

The turnover of shipping subsidiary Europorte was flat at €32.3 million.

In the first nine months of the year, Getlink’s revenue fell 13% to €549.3 million.

The Group has not provided earnings forecasts for the current financial year.
