Florian Marko ‘won’t dodge anyone’ and is ‘better than his peers’ at welterweight, says promoter Ben Shalom | boxing news

Promoter Ben Shalom said Florian Marco “will not play second fiddle” at the national welterweight and is “prepared for some big fights.”

The unbeaten Albanian returns to the ring on Saturday, live on Sky Sports, against Jorek Loisieto in a Richard Ryakborh-dominated match against Olanrowago Dorodola at SSE Arena, Wembley.

“He only played 10 matches but he was a kickboxer,” said Boxer promoter Shalom.

Florian Marco is undefeated at 10

“What Florian has done in a short period of time is better than his peers in the 147-pound class.

“He feels he needs to be fully respected. He doesn’t want to play second fiddle to anyone.

“He’s ready for these big fights but he’s on his own way.”

Marku will fight on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports

The UK welterweight scene includes David Avanisian, Conor Bean, Josh Kelly and Chris Kongo.

But Marko’s appeal to a wider audience separates him from his rivals, Shalom explains: “He wants to fight in Albania next year.

“He has an amazing following all over the UK. Where he differs from Conor Bean or Josh Kelly is that he has a really loyal following which is very important for any fighter who wants to get to the top.

“Florian will be in the biggest fights and will not avoid anyone.”

Marco recently defeated Maxim Prodin in a grudge battle after a heated press conference which saw him push his opponent down and then be led away by security guards.

The 29-year-old can now take another step towards the world title fight after beating Brodan on points to win the IBF International title, propelling himself to 12th in the IBF rankings.
