On Tuesday, Queen Elizabeth II introduced virtual audiences to the UK’s new ambassadors, including Switzerland’s Markus Leitner. These are his first official commitments since he was rested by his doctors and spent a night in the hospital a week ago.
According to Buckingham Palace, the 95-year-old gave an audience by video link from Windsor Castle on the outskirts of London, now her main residence, to receive letters of credit from the ambassadors of South Korea and Switzerland.
The Queen appeared smiling and wearing a yellow dress.
It was her first public appearance since October 19, especially after she canceled a visit to Northern Ireland the next day after her doctors advised her to rest.
The Queen then spent the night from Wednesday to Thursday officially in hospital for “initial” tests.
The fact that Buckingham Palace did not disclose this treatment, the first since 2013, until late, has raised questions.
The King is expected to take part in the United Nations climate conference at COP26 early next week in Glasgow, Scotland.
