Lifting health restrictions in England

Boris Johnson said on Monday that the UK’s health restrictions will be lifted in several stages.

Schools will reopen on March 8, while non-essential companies can resume operations from April 12.

However, no specific date has been reported for the resumption of international travel. One thing is for sure, it can’t be done before May 17th. This deadline is also the deadline the government is targeting to remove most social distancing rules and reopen bars and restaurants.

At the same time, the government has expressed its willingness to lift the recent health restrictions by the end of June 2021 at the latest. “We cannot continue indefinitely with restrictions that weaken our economy and our mental and physical well-being,” the Prime Minister explained, “That is why it is imperative that this roadmap is wise but also irreversible.”

The aforementioned road map has not yet been approved by Parliament. Regardless, it will not apply to Ireland, Scotland and Wales, where their authorities are responsible for their public health.
