Guyana and St. Barth under Varian threat
Covid-19 variants were identified in Saint-Barthélemy and Guyana, the next day to locate the first cases in Guadeloupe and San Martin, authorities announced Saturday.
▶ ️ The so-called English variant has been identified in two people in San Barthelemy, the provinces said in a press release. “The now confirmed presence throughout the archipelago of the English species should lead us to the utmost vigilance,” she added.
“Four variable cases have been discovered,” the province said in a statement in Guyana. One person “died last week.” She added, “The samples will be sequenced to know with certainty the type of alternative in question (English, South African or Brazilian).”
▶ After confirming the presence of the English substitute in nine people in Guadeloupe, the authorities on Saturday restricted travel between this island and Martinique, limiting them only to “compelling reasons.” This variant of Covid-19 has already been in Martinique for a good week.
