(Washington) The United States on Monday denounced Russia’s online “disinformation” campaign against two of the COVID-19 vaccines authorized in the United States.
State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the US diplomatic unit tasked with monitoring and countering foreign propaganda “has identified four Russian internet platforms run by Russian intelligence services that spread disinformation.”
He added to reporters that “these sites contain misleading information about two vaccines that have been licensed” in the United States.
According to the Daily Wall Street JournalThat revealed this information, this campaign is specifically targeting the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine. US health officials have also given the green light for the Moderna vaccine, and very recently the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Ned Price insisted: “It is very clear that Russia is resorting to its old methods, and this is likely to put people at risk because they spread the wrong information about the vaccines that we know are saving lives every day.”
