France has tightened restrictions on foreign travelers in an effort to curb the spread of the Coronavirus, which was first identified in India.
The new rules come into effect today and include:
Entry into France is restricted to EU citizens, residents of France and those traveling for essential purposes
• Approved travelers must take a negative test for COVID-19 before leaving the country of departure
They must also be isolated for a period of seven days after their arrival in France.
• They must sign an ad stating that they have no symptoms of COVID and that they do not know they have been in contact with a person with the virus within the 14 days prior to their flight
• They must sign an affidavit stating that they will be isolated upon arrival in France for a period of seven days and that they will undergo a second PCR test after that.
The new rules cover travelers from the UK and cover entry by plane, car, ferry and train.
It also covers people regardless of their vaccination status.
The Consulate General of France in London said on its website: “Due to the development of the so-called Indian formula, health procedures have been tightened for people traveling to France from the United Kingdom.”
She added that, as of Monday morning, “there will be a need for convincing reasons for foreign nationals outside the European Union who do not reside in France to travel to France from the United Kingdom.”

The rules for people arriving in the UK from France – France is an orange destination, which means the government advises against going there.
Those who do must self-isolate for 10 days and undergo two tests for COVID-19 after arriving in the UK.
