While the third wave could hit France, here’s the update on Covid-19 with numbers from Public Health France and the Covid Tracker.
Radioactive contamination
This Monday, March 15th, 6,471 new cases of Covid-19 were identified within 24 hours, according to French public health figures, a total of 4,078,133 confirmed cases since the start of the epidemic.
The test positive rate is 7.4% as it was yesterday.
Hospitalization
9,855 new admissions to hospital and 2,266 admissions in intensive care were recorded during the past seven days. In total, 4,219 coronavirus patients were in intensive care in French hospitals on Monday, the highest level since the end of November 2020. Among them were 401 admissions in the past 24 hours.
The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in critical care in Ile-de-France reached 1152 on Monday at 11 am according to the Regional Health Agency (ARS), which is more than the peak of the second epidemic wave in the fall.
Hospitals and clinics in Ile-de-France have not received a large number of Covid patients in intensive care since November 13, when ARS 1134 was identified.
Death cases
333 people have died from Covid-19 in hospitals over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 90,788 since the start of the pandemic, including 65,477 hospitalized.
Vaccination
Since January 26, the Ministry of Solidarity and Health decided to amend its vaccination information. Now, instead of stating the total number of people vaccinated, the number of injections given each evening is announced.
As of March 14, 5,135,616 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine in France.
