Canada snatches a 1-1 draw in the United States

Brendan Aaronson gave the United States a 0-0-2 lead in the 55th minute after stealing the ball from Canadian defender Scott Kennedy.

The 20-year-old Aronson accepted a pass from Anthony Robinson before hitting the target from close range. A few minutes later, Kennedy was replaced by CF Montreal defender Kemal Miller.

Canada suffered (0-0-2) after this goal, but regained their composure to equalize the score. Sam Adekogby spotted Alphonso Davies behind American DeAndre Yedlin. The Bayern Munich star paved the way for Laren’s 20th international goal.

Larin, who plays in Turkey with Besiktas, increased his tally to 12 goals in 11 games for Canada in 2021. He has put the needle in six of his last seven caps.

This was goalkeeper Matt Turner’s first goal in 568 minutes for the United States.

Canada brought in Jonathan David and Tajon Buchanan to add more abuse. Veteran Atiba Hutchinson also took to the field in his 87th game for the Canadian team.

The Americans, ranked 10th in the world, dominated the ball possession percentage (75%) in the first half and outperformed Canada 5-3 in shots, but they could not surprise the opponent’s defense.

Canada opened the game with a 1-11-8 in their last 20 games against the Americans since 1985. The only win came in October 2019 in Toronto.
