A reward for the many efforts made by the public authorities to empower women.

Methodologically, Women, Business and the Law 2023 (WBL2023) presents an index that covers 190 economies and centers around the life cycle of a working woman.

A total of 35 questions were rated on eight indicators. The overall scores are then calculated by taking the average of each indicator. The score of 100 represents the highest possible score. The data refers to the laws and regulations of the main business city.

Based on this approach, Benin gets a score 83.8 Out of 100. Benin’s overall score is higher than the regional average observed across sub-Saharan Africa (72.6). Within sub-Saharan Africa, the maximum observed score was 95 (Côte d’Ivoire and Gabon).
