Atiba Hutchinson retires after the Nations League final

He was among the team that made a trip to Qatar last December for the World Cup, which is the second Canadian participation in the World Cup, to occupy last place in its group, with 0 points.

He trained in his country of origin, where he joined the national team in 2003, and Atiba Hutchinson competed in the Swedish, Danish and Dutch championships in Eindhoven, before settling in Besiktas, in the Turkish Superlig, for ten years (2013-2023). He left the Istanbul club recently.

The Brampton, Ont., native had indicated earlier this week that he had no intention of continuing his career at the club.

So Hutchinson will not be in the Gold Cup with the Canadian national team, which starts next week.
