Asus VivoBook S15 S533EA-BQ1708W Against the competition
Chassis, Connectors, and Display For Asus VivoBook S15 S533EA-BQ1708W
This versatile laptop that can be recharged to 60% in 49 minutes has a simple and elegant look with its slim and light aluminum frame with white housing.
It is cooled by two fans (87 0.2 mm thin blades in liquid crystal polymer) and vents. In addition, it offers 3 preset operating modes: Performance (Power), Balanced (Balanced) and Whisper (Quiet, Eco).
This Ultrabook has good connectivity including 1 USB-C and Wi-Fi ax modules (Newer and more efficient than Wi-Fi ac) and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless remote connections and communications, an audio port, a handy HDMI video output for easy connection to a TV or monitor for example or even 3 USB ports all compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, USB 3.0 ensures transfers are up to 10 times faster From USB 2.0 if you connect a USB 3.0 device.
The chewy gum button keyboard includes a yellow cut-out Enter key that brings authenticity. It can be backlit and is very practical so we can better distinguish its switches in case of low ambient light.
Thanks to IPS technology, the screen has large viewing angles, both horizontal and vertical. However, its colorimetry is average, lower than that of high-end IPS panels. In addition, the screen is well suited for displaying videos and high-definition content in general because it adopts 16:9 format associated with Full HD precise definition. Since it is anti-reflective, the screen is also more readable than a glossy panel in a bright environment (eg outdoors).
The performance and autonomy of the Asus VivoBook S15 S533EA-BQ1708W
The Asus VivoBook S15 S533EA-BQ1708W is a slim and lightweight 15″ HD laptop designed for everyday general purpose use on the go.
It is already based on a low-power Intel Tiger Lake i5-1135G7 quad-core processor along with 8GB of RAM to provide a good overall performance that is able to suit a number of users.
Additionally thanks to the graphical solution Intel Iris Xe (tested by us) In the i5-1135G7 quad-core processor, you can watch photos and videos but also play games that don’t require a lot of 3D resources.
It must be said that Iris Xe is significantly more efficient than the classic Intel UHD 620.
To perform work that often requires a processor and / or graphics resources, it is better to turn to a computer with a non-low-power processor and / or a suitable dedicated graphics card.
On the storage side, there is a 512GB SSD that meets the standard among hard drives. As a bonus compared to the latter, the SSD is silent, more powerful, less power consuming and much faster.
In practice, an SSD ensures better fluidity and responsiveness on a daily basis than a simple hard disk drive. Thanks to the SSD, we get, for example, faster boot processes, processing and start / stop of programs, or even faster access to online game cards.
Of course, if you need more than 512 GB, you can use an external storage. Preferring a USB-C/USB 3.0 device is an interesting option to take advantage of fast transfers.
For the autonomy of a versatile Ultrabook that’s easy to transport through controlled weight and versatility, expect about 6 hours of battery life in light use.
