After a few years of sincere service, the iMac Pro will soon be discontinued. Apple has already indicated on its official website that it is only now available “until stock is out”. In addition, only the basic configuration is still available for purchase, i.e. iMac Pro with 5K display, Intel Xeon W 10 cores processor, Radeon Pro Vega 56 graphics card, 1 TB SSD and 32 GB of ECC RAM (with keyboard and mouse ). Other versions have been withdrawn from the Apple Store.
This all-in-one that includes pro components in an ultra-thin body has changed little since its release in 2017, and there’s no doubt that the 2019 Mac Pro and hence the high-end iMac has definitely overshadowed it. Maybe the iMac Pro will return in a new light, but Apple has probably already found a good alternative.
IMac Pro is dead, long live iMac!
This withdrawal actually comes as rumors spread about the launch of new iMac devices. It may be equipped with the Apple Silicon M1 chipset, or even an improved version of it (M1X?), Some rumors point to a processor of up to 20 cores. The iMac should be available in several colors according to the leaks Jon Prosser reported on his YouTube page. They’re supposed to be thinner and flatter, and their screens should have a higher occupancy rate. If they come to offer enough muscle composition, the iMac will likely come to fill the shortage of the Pro version.

If there is clearly no release date available, ditching the iMac Pro could herald an official announcement of the iMac 2021 in the coming weeks or months.
