Murray is a former world first and three-time Grand Slam champion who won a title in New York in 2012. He slipped from the top 100 in the world following two hip surgeries in recent years.

Scott, 34, returned to action in June after a three-month hiatus due to a hip injury and reached the third round at Wimbledon. He then suffered a cross-cut in the singles event at the Tokyo Olympics, causing muscle strain in his right thigh. He was a two-time Olympic champion.

Murray competed in the England doubles at the Tokyo Games, coming to the quarterfinals with Joe Salisbury.

Wawrinka won the title in New York in 2016, the most recent three major singles titles.

The 36-year-old Swiss is 3-3 in 2021. He did not play because he lost to Lloyd Harris at the Qatar Open in March.

Wawrinka underwent surgery on his left leg after the setback and had to return under the knife in June. It occupies 31e World ranking and if he could play he would have topped the US Open.

The tournament starts on August 30th.
