America’s fall, Chile will play in its first Rugby World Cup

Uruguay is not the only South American representative heading to France for the 2023 World Cup. On Saturday afternoon in Glendale, Chile pulled off a small feat with a win against the United States. United (31-29), lost their one point loss to Santiago (21-22) in the first leg.

Fallers of the Eagles, the Chileans will be playing in the first World Cup in their history. They complete Group D, which includes England, Japan, Argentina and Samoa.

In Colorado, Chile punched its ticket at the cost of an insane comeback. Mark Iosefo and A.J. After McGinty’s two tries, the USA led 19-0 (29th) and qualified for their ninth World Cup in nine. But the American dream began to crumble towards the end of the first half with Chile’s reaction, in the form of two tries (Torialba and Garabulic).

Last chance for America in November

After a new effort from each camp, MacGinty’s boot gave the Eagles a small lead (29-21, 60th) but pillar Mattias Ditus responded for “Los Condores” and with six minutes left, Santiago Videla passed the penalty for the win (31-29, 74th).

Defeat in front of their home crowd would give the US team one last chance to qualify for the 2023 World Cup. In November, they must win the four-team intercontinental tournament that will award the last ticket. Kenya and Portugal are also playing in this tournament.
