A British Columbian went through a whole series of adventures to recover, thanks to AirTag, he lost his bag during the flight.

Karl Cooper decided to put AirTag in his bags before leaving for Europe. “It was another good idea for my wife […] It certainly brought the journey and adventure to life. “My bag had a great time,” he said in an interview with Global News.
Curious to know where his bag is, he opens the GPS app and finds that his bag hasn’t tracked him. While he was in Vancouver, his bag was in Victoria.
Mr. Cooper was told it was a supposedly impossible situation because WestJet had no flights to that city. However, the latter had evidence that his belongings were indeed present.
After a short layover in Calgary, the bag eventually made it to London, England, but Karl Cooper was no longer there. That’s when the real bag adventure began, which went to Reykjavik, Iceland, then Frankfurt, Germany, before returning to London.
The trip took a strange turn when the suitcase traveled by car to a small town in England. Faced with this situation, the man wrote to WestJet on Twitter, sharing a photo of the site.
“Hi Carl. Don’t worry. Your bag is on its way to you, she just wants to visit the world first,” he was told.
But AirTag showed an entirely different story. In fact, his bag was delivered to a house in Salisbury, England. “I sent another tweet to WestJet, which replied, ‘Hi Carl. Looks like the bag is taking a breather.'”
Faced with this lack of cooperation from the airline, Karl Cooper contacted the local authorities, who went to collect his luggage.
“They sent an agent who knocked on the door and said, ‘The delivery company came and left this bag. It’s not mine. I have no idea [à qui il est]’, recounted the British Columbian.
While doing business with a private delivery company, he finally got his bag back. With the lesson learned, he put his valuables in his bag to go home.
A WestJet spokeswoman contacted Global News and Denise Kinney said she could not comment on Cooper’s specific case but would look into the matter.
“We are sorry to learn of Mr. Cooper’s recent experience with his bag and we sincerely apologize for the impact on his journey,” she said.
