(Adelaide) Ontarian Bianca Andreescu announced its withdrawal from the Adelaide International Championships due to injury, Reuters news agency quoted the event organizers as saying on Saturday.
“After an absence of 15 months and played very difficult long matches, I suffer from a lower body injury,” she said in a statement issued by the news agency. In order to continue my season, I must withdraw from the Adelaide Championship. ”
However, it is not known the nature of the injury and how long Andreescu will recover.
An email sent by The Canadian Press to a member of the Andreescu team confirming the information, however, has not yet been answered.
The 20-year-old is back in competition after a 15-month hiatus earlier this month at the Australian Open. The eighth player in the world, however, was ousted in the second round.
Subsequently, the 2019 US Open champion missed the semi-finals of the Phillip Island Championship, also held in Melbourne, earlier this week.
Reuters added that Andreescu will also miss the Doha and Dubai championships next month.
