2,298 new cases in one week
The Covid-19 epidemic is still rampant in Martinique this week, according to figures published by ARS today (Tuesday, August 31). The drop in pollution continues, hospital pressure is dropping, but the epidemic is still significant on the island.
Other indicators are declining. The positivity rate was 11.5% versus 14.4% last week. The infection rate is 645 cases per 100,000 residents. The number has also decreased compared to last week (875 per 100,000).
On the other hand, since the start of the vaccination campaign in Martinique, 76,357 people have received the full vaccination schedule (1st and 2nd doses), or 24.14% of the population over 12 years of age.
55 new deaths in one week and 129 people in intensive care
At the same time, hospital pressure tends to decrease slightly in Martinique University Hospital, but the number of deaths and people hospitalized remains particularly high.
We are scheduled to deplore 55 new deaths within one week, bringing the total number of people who have died from COVID-19 since the start of the epidemic on the island in March 2020 to 460. Of these, 15 have occurred in space for 24 hours. .
Today (Tuesday, August 31), 129 people are in intensive care (versus 78 last week). In all, 497 patients are hospitalized today due to Covid, up from 539 last week. Among them, 442 were hospitalized at CHUM and 55 at Clinique Saint-Paul.
